About Us

Let me guess, your first question is 'What does SAFI mean and how on earth do I pronounce it?". We think it's a rather interesting name too and more importantly we believe we couldn't have used a word that describes our company any better! Pronounced 'sarfee', this Swahili word can be translated into 'cool', 'fresh' or 'fancy'.

Here at SAFI we like to have a cool and fresh approach to developing some rather fancy websites.

As most kiwi success stories, SAFI started by being based in a bedroom, doing web design for friends and pretty much anyone that came our way. SAFI was started in 2003, incorporated in 2004 and thriving through to today. Since our humble beginnings at home, our team has now grown to 13 in 2005, with new directors, new admin staff, new sales staff and an amazing pool of New Zealand and Canada's most talented designers contracting to us.

The present is very exciting for us, our approach to web development projects has seen us earn contracts that are envied by many in our industry, we also boast an impressive client portfolio that reflects our level of professionalism and ability to continually deliver premium service and products. Due to our ability to prove ourselves in the real world domestically and internationally, we have been listed, profiled and interviewed by some of New Zealand's most prominent industry magazines and national newspapers.

We look to the future by appreciating our past - our humble beginnings ensure our attitudes remain 'real' and 'down to earth', coupled with the professionalism that has been with us from day one. Sometimes 'professionalism' is falsely translated into being someone with a fancy Armani suit that has a flash cell phone, don't be fooled. Our definition of professionalism is treating prospective and existing clients with the greatest of respect, providing advice that is accurate and relevant, delivering products and services that are of premium quality - on time and within budget, while valuing the relationships we build and maintain. And while we do think we look pretty good in Armani suits with our flashy cell phones, we're pretty confident we actually know which definition of professionalism is right.
